DancingBones primarily relies on word of mouth from our clients and referrals from the medical field, both traditional and alternative. Still, it felt like a no-brainer for DancingBones to advertise in The New Mexican’s newest supplement VIDA - Ageless Living Today.  Did you see our ad on September 24th or read VIDA?

There are some copies in the reception area for you to check out.

We are happy to advertise and support the endeavors of our DancingBones clients & encourage you all to do the same.

High Desert Winds

Sunday OCTOBER 15th at 2p.m. - FREE

NM Museum of Fine Arts

http://concordiasantafe.org/ensembles/high-desert-winds/

Our own Mary Beth Britton is a member of High Desert Winds and will be playing this Sunday. Nicole and I are devoted to the concerts by High Desert Winds and their sibling organization, Concordia Wind Orchestra. I promise if you attend, you will not be disappointed. Nicole thinks these free concerts are the best kept secret in Santa Fe. (Psst..I had the jump on my daughter & introduced her to Concordia two years ago!) I can’t tell you how much we look forward to these concerts, and you will see our DancingBones ad in their program too. Please do spread the word & support this musical gift to Santa Fe

Laughter Yoga

Navigating the Holiday Minefield
Tuesdays 6-7pm (MDT)

Starting Oct 17th
Zoom

$150/ten sessions + recordings

www.Laughterfusion.com

As the holiday season looms many of us begin to tense up and hold our breath just praying to get through it. Michele Caskey (who leads the laughter at DancingBones in our Wednesday morning 15 minute power breath & laugh sessions) has the solution!

Beginning Oct 17th, Michele will lead ten sessions of Intentional Laughter on Tuesdays 6-7pm (MDT) on Zoom. The sessions are spaced out over 5 months - right up until Valentine’s Day - for an unbelievably generous price of $150. Nicole and I have signed up so we are guaranteed to be HO! HO! HO’ing! our way through the holidays this year.

Michele, who is a Matrix/EES regular, has been an Ambassador with Laughter Yoga International for over twenty years. The best thing about this kind of “yoga” is that it can improve your mood in less than ten minutes. Skills for shifting your mood & mind are as essential to well-being as physical training. There is substantial evidence proving this & the benefits are too many to enumerate. Nicole who has been practicing pranayama (breath yoga) for many years has been astonished & delighted by the added benefits of incorporating laughter. Michele commented that doing this practice in the Matrix/EES takes it to the next level.

(Stay tuned! Nicole is hoping to convince Michele to broadcast at least one of the Holiday Zoom sessions from the Matrix!)

Villa Therese Catholic Clinic

Fund raising party.

Saturday October 21st at La Fonda Hotel

$150 (dinner, music, auction)

Other secrets of Santa Fe…did you know that there is only one clinic offering free medical care in Santa Fe? And that they’ve been doing it for more than 80 years? Nicole was thrilled to learn about Villa Therese Catholic Clinic from DancingBones’s client, Toni Fammartino. She and her husband Joseph volunteer weekly at the clinic. Dr Joseph Fammartino spent his professional life as an ophthalmologist and retina specialist. (Psst…Read more about Joe below under Artists at DancingBones. Creativity clearly runs in the Fammartino family; the Rocktober! logo was created by their daughter) You can support the clinic, where they provide services including dental, eyes exams, screening for skin cancer and blood pressure as well as care for chronic conditions, by attending their Oct 21st fund raising party. If a party is not anything you’re up for, donations are always accepted. Check www.vtccsf.org

Longtime member & longtime professional artist Leslie Marks has two pieces in the BAG! That’s the Santa Fe Book Arts Group in case you didn’t know. BAG has exhibits in all three of the Santa Fe libraries to celebrate National Book Month in October. If you can’t make it in person, the online portfolio is excellent: bit.ly/3OC6svu

Linda T. Zagzebski had a great excuse for missing her DancingBones session a few weeks ago as she was busy accepting her nomination into the American Academy of Arts & Science. Nicole was thrilled when she found out that Linda was one of the rarest creatures on earth: a living, female philosopher! Linda has a new book out & I will share more when I can. https://www.ou.edu/cas/news/news/OU-Professor-Named-to-American-Academy

Writer, Jan Patterson – she of the prompt “There is never a snowflake that feels responsible for the avalanche,” is involved with an organization I love called Theater Lovers Club or TLC.  They have free meetings to meet playwrights, directors, actors and provide discounted tickets to previews.  Theater Santa Fe was her husband Jim Patterson’s inspiration. These two have done more for creating an audience for live theater in Santa Fe that any two people I know.  As a devoted theater goer, I am very grateful. TLC is a part of this organization. You can find more information about it on Theater Santa Fe’s website. www.theatersantafe.org

Though I intended updates only for the activities of current clients, Nicole has such love for Pie Projects that I couldn’t resist mentioning that member Leslie McNamara’s sweetheart, Sam Scott, is one of the Enduring Masters represented at Pie Projects show that opened on the 7th. It runs through November 25. Pie Projects is another “secrets of Santa Fe” as far as I am concerned. Always interesting and off the beaten path, their shows are usually short & sweet. Don’t miss this longer run! https://pieprojects.org/pages/current-show

ARTISTS AT DANCINGBONES

Our newest artist is Dr. Joseph Fammartino. When I first saw his photographs, Mother and Daughter and Lounging Under Trees, they put me into a peaceful, meditative place. See if you don’t feel the same way.

After retiring from ophthalmology, Joseph’s interest in vision found new expression in his photographs. What is it that we see, but that isn't obvious to us? Do we see differently in black and white versus color?

His website has additional information about his process and how the photographs can be purchased. You can, of course, buy the beautifully framed ones off the walls at DancingBones. Do check out his website. https://josephfammartino.com,

All of this year’s artists have been up to new & exciting things. Here’s the update:

Jasmine Quinsier

Jasmine’s beautiful mandalas remain on our walls for sale. Jasmine has become a student once more. She is at the University of New Mexico getting a degree in psychology. Of course, she isn’t hanging up her brushes; she knows that wellness includes creativity. And what could be more creative than beginning something completely new and finding an unexpected passion?

Clayton Bass has two new galleries, one in Boulder and one in Tucson.

Mrs. Daniels by Dee Smart

Dee Smart

Many of you have noticed (and applauded!) the return to the walls of DancingBones of Mrs. Daniels  by artist Dee Smart. I think Mrs. D is the epitome of aging well. She exudes enthusiasm for life itself. The diversity of Dee’s talent is represented in the two pieces we have at DancingBones.  See if you can spot - or should I say “stripe”? - her other piece.

Why all this community news?

What’s this got to do with wellness?
Let alone bone health?

Many factors go into healthy aging. Laughing and chatting with others socially can temporarily distract us from our own worries and help reduce loneliness. Maybe you are not lonely but taking a minute to chat with a stranger could be your little act of kindness/service to another. Stress is one of the known factors in bone depletion. So improving your mental health can improve your bones too.Have you tried?

The magnesium from Kona Sea Salt has been a hit.  I hope you’ve tried adding it to your water.  Nicole has found her leg cramps have disappeared with the use of the drops in her drinking water. The magnesium spray is amazing. Recently I woke up in the middle of the night with so much neck pain I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to turn my head. I remembered that the magnesium spray was recommended to be used topically. I grabbed the bottle and sprayed it all over my neck and shoulder. I swear the pain and stiffness were gone within five minutes. This is good stuff!

More Matrix!

If any of you follow Jason Shurka’s UNIFY podcasts, you will see that the testimonials for the Energy Enhancement System/Matrix are glowing and growing - as are the number of places in this country and around the world that are installing this technology as an adjunct to healing any number of conditions.

More to Come

We are so delighted that we can host a talk by Dr. Stephen Weiss about the BEMER as therapy. (See details in the box below and please make a reservation quickly for this free presentation!)

Dr. Stephen Weiss is an integrative physician here in Santa Fe. He joined Dr. Russ Canfield at 360 Medicine in 2018.

I loved reading his academic background. He received his BA in Biology from Swarthmore, and his M.D from the University of Maryland. Balancing his allopathic training, he also studied at both the Academy for Classical Hemopathy and the Ayurvedic Institute. If that weren’t enough, Dr.Weiss is also a teacher. He was a Clinical Assistant Professor at UNM School of Medicine before devoting himself full time to his practice in Santa Fe.

Dr.Weiss was introduced to BEMER technology in 2014 becoming the first holistic integrative doctor in the state of New Mexico to incorporate this therapy into his practice. He has been giving talks on its numerous health benefits to colleagues and others interested in learning how to integrate the BEMER into their daily health regimen. You can read more at: https://holisticmedicineheals.com

If you have any questions about BeMer, please drop them in the basket by the sign-up sheet on the front desk or email them to: manager@dancingbones.us
